Can I change sounds when new e-mail arrives?

We turn to Leo Haggerty from Web Boss Design Studio, a fan of different sounds on the computer, for this months answer. Sounds are controlled in essentially the same way, so I will give you the example of the "New Mail Notification," but you can change just about any computer sound in the same way. Microsoft provides a wide variety of sounds, but most of them are not what I call "fun sounds." So the first thing you need to do is find a sound you like. The best way to do that is to search using a search engine like Google. Search for things like: TV sounds, movie sounds, computer sounds. I have provided a sound for this example. To download the sound clip, right click on the link below and choose "SAVE TARGET AS." I save these files to the C: drive, but you can put them anywhere you will remember. -Download Sound File- Now complete the following steps: Go to START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES > SOUNDS TAB> Now scroll down to the "NEW MAIL NOTIFICATION" option. Click the "BROWSE" button below and find your sound. Then click "OK" and "APPLY." There, you are done. What sound did you just set? Well, that's my secret, but you can hear it by pressing the right arrow button next to the sound name to hear it. Warning! Choose your sounds carefully. Sounds that you think are funny or cool may quicky become old or offend family and friends. Have fun!
